Trud (Russia)

Trud ( Russian Труд "work") was the organ of the trade union committee in the Soviet Union and is now the third largest daily newspaper in Russia .

history

Trud was founded as a union organ in 1921 and in this function had a circulation of 21.5 million copies. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the propaganda organ of the communist-controlled trade unions changed to a neutral daily newspaper with a much smaller circulation.

today

Trud currently has a circulation of 613,000 copies per day. This makes it the third largest daily newspaper title in Russia. Trud sees himself as the mouthpiece of the “center left” in Russia. The newspaper publisher operates as an “autonomous non-profit organization”.
