Platform -2 level, direction Kröpcke

The Aegidientorplatz underground station is one of the most important underground stations for the Hannover Stadtbahn . It is located under the eponymous Aegidientorplatz in Hanover 's Mitte district . The station links the B-route with the C-route and has two platforms one above the other with four tracks for lines 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 11 as well as event lines 16 and 18.

history

The Aegidientorplatz station was put into operation on May 31, 1981 for the B line. Initially, there was only one line to the Schlägerstraße station, the above-ground tram route over Hildesheimer Straße was still in operation. On September 26, 1982 the entire B-South line was put into operation and the above-ground line was shut down. At the same time, the C-part of the Kröpcke station went into operation, line 1 now turned there after switching from the B to the C line north of the Aegidientorplatz station. In the opposite direction, the route was changed south of the station.

On September 24, 1989, the C-East tunnel was inaugurated, so that the station was fully operational. In 1995 the route network was reformed. All lines now ran straight, so that the delay-prone change of a line from one route to the other was no longer necessary. With a corresponding timetable, one train on the B and C routes usually arrives at the same time, so that a change can be made quickly.

The Hanover Region Infrastructure Company has owned the Hanover subway stations since 2001 .

description

Distribution level -1

The Aegidientorplatz station is a transfer station for the lines of the B and C lines. You can change trains without barriers at two directional platforms, one on top of the other . The station was equipped with elevators from the start.

The distribution level is on the -1 level. There are several accesses to it: at the Theater am Aegi (towards Hildesheimer Straße and towards Friedrichswall , each with escalator), on Breite Straße (with escalator), Georgstraße (with elevator and escalator), at Torhaus am Aegi (with escalator), as well as at the ship moat (both sides). At the exit to Hildesheimer Straße there is a large reproduction of the view of the Aegidientore around 1620 by Arnold Nöldeke on the wall .

At the platform on level 2, all lines go into town, the next station is Kröpcke .

On the lowest level (−3), the trams on the B line go in the direction of Hildesheimer Straße , the next station is Schlägerstraße . The trains on the C-route run in a large curve under the southern part of the city to the Marienstrasse station .

The station walls are provided with historical gate representations as decorative elements.

There are track connections in both directions between the B and C lines to switch between the two lines, but this is no longer practiced in regular service. The track change is located behind the platforms in the direction of travel.
