The Eissporthalle station is on the U7 between the Parliament Square and Johanna-Tesch-Platz stations . Viewed from the city center, it is the third station on the so-called Ostend line .

The ice rink that gives it its name is in the immediate vicinity . In addition, the Frankfurter Volksbank Stadium of the FSV Frankfurt is only a few minutes' walk from the underground station. Guests at the twice-yearly Dippemess also have to get off at the station.

Construction

As on the first construction phase of the C-route, the Eissporthalle underground station was built in an open, covered building pit, but the route tunnels were built using a closed, mining method. For cost reasons, the station was not designed by external architects, but by the Stadtbahnbauamt itself, which from an architectural point of view led to less spectacular results than in the first construction phase.

The pillars of the station are covered with blue metal plates, the walls are red. In between there are black and white photographs by the artist Gerald Domenig . They show snapshots of the surrounding area from the early 1990s.

Due to the steep gradient of the Kettelerallee leading above the station, the B-level usual in Frankfurt must be dispensed with at the southern entrance. Therefore, a larger glass house was built here, in which, among other things, the ticket machines are located. Direct access to the platform in this form is unique in Frankfurt. At the northern entrance there is a B-level with an artistic wall graphic that depicts both the neighboring Dippemess festival and the ice rink.
