Coat of arms and motto

Blazon : The split coat of arms shows three blue wavy lines in the upper silver shield which are supposed to symbolize a river. The river is a biblical image. Whoever trusts in God is like a tree that is planted by the water and that bears abundant fruit (Ps 1). In the book of Ezekiel, the prophet narrates a vision in which he sees water flowing out of the temple. Everywhere where the river flows, life can grow ( Ez 47  EU . In the lower red shield there is a Mark's lion with an open book and the two Greek letters A and O. The winged lion is a symbol for the evangelist Mark, Bentz's patron saint. Under the coat of arms in the banner the motto of the bishop: praedicare ubique - domino cooperante - preach everywhere - the Lord is involved ( Mk 16.20  EU ).
