The Ullevål University Hospital ( Ullevål universitetssykehus , UUS) in Oslo is the largest hospital in Norway and also one of the largest in Northern Europe. It has more than 8,400 employees, including 940 doctors and 2,400 nurses. With a capacity of 1,200 beds, around 45,000 inpatients are cared for annually and over 400,000 outpatient treatments and consultations are provided. It is the teaching hospital and university clinic of the University of Oslo. The hospital was founded in 1887 and currently has the following departments:

  • General medical (interdisciplinary) department
  • Orthopedic Center
  • Heart-Lung Center
  • Psychiatric Department
  • radiology
  • Internal medicine department
  • Gynecological Department
  • Pediatric Department

At the beginning of 2009, the Ullevål Hospital was combined with the nearby Rikshospitalet (Reich Hospital ) and the Aker universitetssykehus (Aker University Hospital) to form the Oslo University Hospitals . However, the established names of the three locations will be retained for the time being.
