Ulrich Frank-Planitz

Ulrich Frank-Planitz (born April 13, 1936 in Zwickau ; † May 7, 2011 in Stuttgart ) was a German publisher and journalist .

Life

Ulrich Frank-Planitz studied medicine in Jena and law and economics in Berlin , Bonn and Cologne . He was a correspondent for the daily Handelsblatt in Bonn. In 1967 he became editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper Christ und Welt . From 1973 he worked for Robert Bosch (Ingenieur) GmbH in Zurich and from 1978 to 1997 he was managing director of Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt (DVA) and Engelhorn Verlags GmbH . In 1980/81 he transferred the DVA from the family ownership of the Bosch family to the corporate structure of the Fazit Foundation and DVA Foundation . He was also responsible for purchasing the Manesse library .

In 1997 he founded the Hohenheim Verlag in Stuttgart and Leipzig with Michael Klett , which he ran with his wife Renate Frank-Jostmann. Among other things, he was the editor of Streiflichter von der Elbe .

Frank-Planitz was spokesman for the advisory board of the Leipzig Book Fair from 1998 to 2005 . He was involved in the advisory board of the Württemberg State Museum in Stuttgart and the Bergedorf discussion group of the Körber Foundation . Since 1989 he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Theodor Heuss Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Leipzig . He was the founding benefactor of the Stuttgart Community Foundation .

Honors

In 1997 he was honored with the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany and in 2005 with the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg . He is a knight of honor of the Order of St. John .
