Ulrich Gehrig
Ulrich Gehrig (born December 26, 1932 in Magdeburg ) is a German classical archaeologist .
Gehrig attended school in Magdeburg and Berlin. Since the winter semester 1951/52 he studied at the University of Hamburg , first medicine, then classical archeology. He studied for three semesters in Munich. In 1964 he received his doctorate in Hamburg under Ulf Jantzen with a thesis on the geometric bronzes from the Heraion of Samos . Then he was a research assistant at the Antikensammlung in Berlin . From 1982 until his retirement in 1995 he was director of the Kestner Museum in Hanover .
