Umse (born July 25, 1983 in Ratingen ; real name Christoph Umbeck ) is a German rapper .
Life
Christoph Umbeck called since his school days Umse, discovered after a detour through the genres punk rock and crossover to hip-hop and writes since 1997 German-language texts. At the beginning of 2006 Umse was signed by the music label "Tunnelblick Music". In May 2006 he published the eight-track EP "smart & weise", which appeared exclusively online. By the end of 2008 this EP had been downloaded more than 20,000 times.
With his victory in the “ Myspace Most Wanted Contest 2007” he was able to participate in the seventh MTV HipHop Open in Stuttgart on July 21, 2007 a. a. perform alongside German-speaking artists such as Freundeskreis , Jan Delay , Blumentopf and Dendemann as well as the US rappers of the Wu-Tang clan .
In 2008 he performed in various locations in Germany with the four-man live band “Beatshop” from Münster . He released the concept album “Rheinisches Blatt” as his debut album on September 12, 2008. This work is counted among the “best genre releases of the year” by laut.de. After separating from the music label Tunnelblick Music, he released his second album in 2010 under the title “Allerhöchste Eisenbahn”. The EP Lieb es oder lass es was released on November 13, 2012 with eight music tracks and a total playing time of 24:14 minutes. Umse released the third album Growth on March 22, 2013 on Jakarta Records .
At the beginning of 2014 the fourth studio album by Umse was announced, entitled Art for itself . It was released on July 25, 2014 and brought Umse to number 36, first place in the German charts .
