The Worm Lures Forever is a 1943 American animated short film directed by Friz Freleng .
action
An angler launches a worm on a fishing hook . He first puts on a bathing cap and tests the water temperature before he tells the angler to lower him completely into the water. When they reach the seabed, the worm collects sleeping fish and sends them up to the angler on a serving plate with a lid. He lures other fish disguised as a blonde-haired mermaid or convinces them to try their hand at art on the fish hook.
The worm is disturbed by a crab that chases him and finally challenges him to a boxing match. The worm explains to the audience that it cannot be shown how it will prepare the crab so as not to shock people with weak hearts. The camera pans to the surface of the sea, which soon begins to ripple. In the end, the fishing rod attracts and the platter appears on the surface. On top of it lies the heavily bandaged worm, which admits that it was wrong about the crab.

The worm, spoken by Mel Blanc , resembles the American-Italian entertainer Jerry Colonna with a beard and accent .
