The Union Compact Freistadt is one of the most traditional fistball teams in Austria and the sporting flagship of the Sport Union Freistadt .

history

Since being promoted to the state league in 1973, the team has played - apart from 3 seasons - in the top division of Austria and in 1975, 1980, 2004 and 2009 won the state championship, 2nd place at the IFA Cup 2000 and 1st place . Rank at the IFV-Pokal 2004. The greatest success in the club's history was achieved in 2005 by winning the European Men's Cup in front of its own audience and thus also participating in the Men's World Cup in 2006. In 2010, Freistadt celebrated the European Cup in Berlin . In 2011, the World Cup could then be won on the local facility.

In recent years the association has also been active in the event sector. Since the opening of the Marianumsportplatz in 1999, the athletes have had a home available that hosted the European Junior Championship in 1999, the European Men's Championship in 2000, the Men's Final in 2002 and the Men's European Cup in 2005.

Freistadt is also very successful in the women's and junior segment. The women's team managed to march through from the district league to the 2nd Bundesliga, they are currently playing in the playoff for promotion to the 1st Bundesliga. In the junior area, two big titles were won in the hall this year. The U-18 team won the Austrian national championship title and the U-12 team won the silver medal in the Austrian championships.
