Buraimi University

The Buraimi University ( Arabic جامعة البريمي, DMG Ǧāmiʿat al-Buraimī ; English University of Buraimi (UOB) is a state-recognized private university in al-Buraimi in the north of the Sultanate of Oman . It opened on November 6, 2010. Initially, 300 students were accepted into the pre-study course. In the long term, the university should offer space for 10,000 students.

Cooperations

The new university is largely based on Austrian scientific know-how. For this purpose, cooperation agreements have been concluded with four Austrian and one British universities. The IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems developed the complete infrastructure and provided support in setting up the administration. In addition, she developed the curricula for the "Business Administration and E-Business Management" and "Export-Oriented Management" courses. The University of Vienna supplied the “Information Technology” curriculum, while the Technical University of Vienna supplied the program for the “Civil and Architectural Engineering” course. The FH Campus Wien finally provided the curriculum for the “Nursing” course. The University of Bradford is also involved in the academic development with the supply of the “Optometry” curriculum. All universities support the search for suitable lecturers and the selection of suitable candidates for the positions of rector or dean. In the long term, an academic exchange at lecturer level is also planned. The Austrian Johann Günther was appointed founding rector in October 2010 .

Investments

The costs for the entire project amount to approx. € 40 million. This includes management consulting, the development of the courses, the new building of the university campus and a science park in the immediate vicinity of the university. As part of the overall project, which is valued at around 40 million euros, in addition to the construction of the university building with the involvement of an Austrian architect, a science park is also planned in the immediate vicinity.
