University course

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A university course (ULG) is a course of study for further education at an Austrian university or private university . The legal basis is the University Act 2002 , in particular §§ 56ff. In the Fachhochschule system there are courses for further education with a comparable legal basis (Section 9 of the Fachhochschule Studies Act).

Admission requirements and scope of these courses vary, from one-day seminars to studies lasting several semesters. In most cases, the formats are tailored to working people (evening or block courses). In contrast to regular courses, courses are financed by cost-covering tuition fees.

University courses and courses for further education can be awarded with a master’s degree , e.g. B. MBA , MSc or LL.M. if the entry conditions, scope and requirements are comparable to those of corresponding foreign master’s programs. A master’s degree in a university course does not, however, lead to an A-post (in Austria) or to a placement in the higher service (in Germany).

Courses for which the criteria of entry conditions, scope and requirements do not apply, but which have a scope of at least 60 ECTS , end with an academic expert title with a designation that characterizes the content, for example academic social manager or academic business organizer . These titles do not count as academic degrees. Participation certificates are issued for courses that do not fall into either of these two categories.
