The University of Chicago Press is the largest university publisher in the United States . It was founded in 1891 and is run by the University of Chicago .

The University of Chicago Press’s Books Division has published over 11,000 books since 1892. There are currently around 5000 still in print. The best-known publications include The Chicago Manual of Style , The Structure of Scientific Revolutions by Thomas S. Kuhn , The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich August von Hayek and A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean , which was published in 1976 as the first fictional work by Chicago Press misplaced and later by Robert Redford also filmed was.

The Journals Division is responsible for the publication of 72 scientific journals . Their first journal was the Journal of Political Economy , which was first published in 1892. Efforts have been made since 1995 to make the journals accessible online. As of 2004, all of the University of Chicago Press journals have been available both in print and online.
