Upuaut , also called Wepwawet , Wep-wawet or Ophois , German: "Opener of the ways", was worshiped as the Egyptian god of war and death .

Mythological connections

Upuaut's attributes of bow and club indicate his warlike character. In pictures, Upuaut leads the royal pageant; and the Osiris strides ahead of the wolf-like God. This is why this deity opened up the paths in the hereafter (the Duat ) for the dead in the Egyptians .

He shared his portrayal as a jackal or a wolf with black fur with Anubis, among others . Upuaut is shown mainly standing, less often lying down. It often appears in the form of a standing jackal on the bow of the dead boat . Images in hibis show him as a standing man with a jackal head. The Greeks , who called him Ophois , interpreted him as a wolf and called the center of his cult Lycopolis .

reception

Upuaut and Upuaut-2 are named after Upuaut , robots equipped with a camera and spotlights by the Munich engineer Rudolf Gantenbrink , which were used in 1993 to investigate the Cheops pyramid in the two shafts of the Queen's Chamber.
