Urbain-Marie person

Urbain-Marie Person OFMCap (born February 4, 1906 in Lanarvily , France ; † February 9, 1994 ) was a Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church and Vicar Apostolic of Harar in Ethiopia .

Life

Urbain-Marie Person was ordained as a priest of the Capuchins on February 28, 1932 . On January 2, 1952, he received the call to be Apostolic Prefect of Awasa (until February 16, 1973) and Soddo-Hosanna (until February 16, 1973). At the same time he was appointed titular bishop of Cyme , he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Harar on July 3, 1955.

On August 28, 1955, he received the episcopal ordination from Cardinal Eugène Tisserant , prefect of the Congregatio Caeremoniarum . Co- consecrators were the Archbishops Pietro Sigismondi , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Giovanni C. Luigi Marinoni, OFMCap, Vicar Apostolic of Eritrea .

On December 4, 1981, he was retired due to old age. He was succeeded by Bishop Woldetensaé Ghebreghiorghis .

He was co- consecrator of Dominic Romuald Basil Athaide OFMCap as Archbishop of Agra in India , Asrate Mariam Yemmeru as Titular Bishop of Urima and Vicar Apostolic of Asmara and François Abraha as Bishop of Asmara. Bishop Person attended the four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a Council Father.
