Urs Bihler

Urs Bihler (born October 19, 1944 in Basel ) is a Swiss actor.

Bihler completed his acting training at what was then the Zurich stage studio and has been an actor since 1967. Among other things, he worked under Werner Düggelin and in Paris with Peter Brook . In the eighties he worked at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz , later he also played for Christoph Marthaler . In the mid-1990s he was mainly engaged in Zurich and also performed at the Zurich Opera House and the Zurich Theater . He has been a member of the Basel Theater ensemble since 2002 . In addition to his work for directors, he was also on the road with a series of monologues in small theaters and from 2000 was a lecturer in drama at the Zurich Theater Academy.

On television and in the cinema, he has held large and small roles since 1968. In a film adaptation of the Mahabharata by Peter Brook he played the role of Dushassana and in the film adaptation of The Flag of the Seven Upright People, Kaspar Hediger.

In 2006, Urs Bihler was awarded the Drama Prize of the Canton of Solothurn for his oeuvre .

Urs Bihler was married to the actress Miriam Goldschmidt , with whom he often played the dibbuk after Salomon An-ski . He lives in Dornach .
