Ursula Buettner

Ursula Luise Barbara Büttner (born July 3, 1946 in Höxter ) is a German historian .

She studied history and German at the universities of Heidelberg , Hamburg and Cambridge . In 1979 she received her doctorate under Werner Jochmann with the font Hamburg in the Great Depression, Economic Development and Financial Policy 1928-1931 . Since 1975 she was a research consultant and Research Fellow at the Research Center for Contemporary History in Hamburg . Since 1990 she has also been a professor at the Institute for Social and Economic History at the University of Hamburg . She retired in 2011.

She published numerous works on the Weimar Republic , the Nazi era and German post-war history . One of her main areas is the regional history of the city of Hamburg . In April 1995 she was honored with the Hamburg Max Brewer Prize for her work on the Hanseatic City of Hamburg .

She is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Weimar Republic Association for the House of the Weimar Republic .
