Usama al-Mazini (also Osama Mazini ; Arabic أسامة المزيني, DMG Usāma al-Mazīnī ) is a religious and political leader of Hamas , the Palestinian militant and political organization affiliated with the military wing of the Qassam Brigades , with a doctorate and his own mosque .

Mazini was the chief negotiator in charge of the kidnapping of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit . He explained the opening of the border and the end of the blockade in connection with the resumption of negotiations for the release of Gilad Shalit. In response to the 2008 ceasefire violation , he stated that the fact of the ceasefire over Gaza was of no consequence as long as Palestinian blood was allowed in the West Bank . The Izz-ad-Din-al-Qassam Brigades and other organizations are free to respond to Israeli attacks in the West Bank. He said consideration should be given to starting the ceasefire because of the Gaza blockade in the Gaza Strip. He also said that Mahmoud Abbas was responsible for extending the ceasefire agreement to the West Bank.

On February 19, 2007, Mazini shared his position on the Mecca Agreement from the perspective of Hamas, in which he indicated that he would "recognize the state of this entity [Israel]." During Operation Cast Lead in December 2008, Mazini warned Israel against sending ground troops to the Gaza Strip as "the people of Gaza are waiting to tear the Zionist enemy into pieces."
