Uta Franz (born September 19, 1935 in Bad Gastein , † August 17, 2012 in Villach ; born Uta Franzmair , real name Uta Treu ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

After completing school, the hotelier's daughter devoted herself to language training. She completed an apprenticeship in a boarding school in French-speaking Switzerland and finally went to Rome to perfect her Italian. There she was approached by a filmmaker and discovered for the screen.

In 1953 she made her acting debut in the Italian-French co-production Villa Borghese . A year later she stood in front of the camera for her second film Una Parigina a Roma alongside the acting legend Paul Hörbiger . In 1955 Ernst Marischka engaged Uta Franz for the role of Princess Helene in Bavaria in his Sissi trilogy. Although Uta Franz was successful in the role of Sissi's older sister Nene , she decided against a film career and never appeared again as an actress after 1957. The third part of the Sissi trilogy was her seventh and at the same time her last film.

It was not until December 23, 2005 that she appeared again in public at the WDR gala Servus Sissi , and after fifty years met her former colleague Karlheinz Böhm . Franz had a son and, as Uta Treu, lived in seclusion with her husband in Austria. She died on August 17, 2012 in Villach and was buried in the forest cemetery.
