Ute Trekel-Burckhardt

Ute Trekel-Burckhardt (born November 3, 1939 in Pirna ) is a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Trekel-Burckhardt studied with Rita Meinl-Weise at the Berlin Music Academy . Her stage debut took place in 1963 at the Komische Oper Berlin as Page in Salome by Richard Strauss in a production by Götz Friedrich . She stayed at this house until Walter Felsenstein's death (1975). In 1972 she was at the world premiere of Another Spoon of Gift, Darling? by Siegfried Matthus (Libretto: Peter Hacks ) involved. Since 1975 she has been a member of the ensemble of the State Opera Unter den Linden and has also appeared as a guest at the State Opera Dresden .

Trekel-Burckhardt interpreted all the great mezzo-soprano and alto roles in the repertoire and became known as an interpreter of the operas of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Strauss. One of her main roles was Octavian in Rosenkavalier , the title role in Carmen , Amneris ( Aida ), Eboli in ( Don Carlo ) and Nurse in Die Frau ohne Schatten (Direction: Harry Kupfer ). In Ruth Berghaus ' production of La clemenza di Tito she was the sesto.

Before the fall of the Wall, she had guest contracts with the State Operas of Vienna and Munich , the Royal Copenhagen Opera , the Cologne Opera , the Bonn Opera (1984 as Renata in Der fierige Engel von Prokofjew ), with the Staatstheater Karlsruhe (1987 as Kundry in Parsifal ) and with Wiesbaden (1988 as Ortrud in Lohengrin ). In 1985 she sang in Arnold Schönberg's monodrama Anticipation .

In 1985 she sang in the Munich premiere of Heinrich Sutermeister's opera Le Roi Bérenger. In 1986 she appeared as Venus in Tannhäuser at the Berlin State Opera at the Las Palmas Festival .

She also sang touring in Amsterdam (1980) and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna (1981), at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona (1981, 1986), at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (1986), at the Opéra National in Bordeaux (1986 ) and at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels (1980).

In 1990 she gave the Azucena in the Troubadour , the Amneris in Aida and the composer in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Berlin State Opera , and in 1993 the sexton in Jenufa . In 1991 she also appeared at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Friedrich's production of Lohengrin as Ortrud, and in 1995 at the Graz Opera House as Klytämnestra in Elektra .

She can be seen as Cherubino in the recording of Felsenstein's last production of Figaro's Wedding (Komische Oper 1975).

In the last few years Trekel-Burckardt worked primarily as a teacher, but she also sang the Countess in Queen of Spades (Berlin State Opera) and the ticket seller in Arabella (Munich State Opera).

Ute Trekel-Burckhardt is married to the bassist Kammersänger Jürgen Trekel , who was engaged at the Halle Opera and the Komische Oper and currently (2013) plays at the Baden stage in Lower Austria. Both son is the baritone Roman Trekel .
