Uwe Küster

Uwe Küster (born July 14, 1945 in Magdeburg ; † October 26, 2014 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ). Since 2008 he has been the representative for the IT industry and from 1991 to 2007 Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1964, Küster studied physics at the Technical University of Magdeburg , which he completed in 1969 with a degree in physics. He then worked as a research assistant in the Department of Biochemistry until 1983 and from 1983 to 1989 in the Department of Immunology at the Medical Academy Magdeburg . In 1976 he received his doctorate (dissertation A) as Dr. rer. nat. at the TH Magdeburg with the thesis "Investigations on the regulation of mitochondrial ATP synthesis by the extramitochondrial adenine nucleotides" . In 1982 he completed his habilitation at the Medical Academy Magdeburg with the thesis "Investigations on the regulation of energy supply and energy utilization in the liver on subcellular and cellular level" (Dissertation B). From 1989 to 1991 Küster was a lecturer in immunology here.

Uwe Küster was married and had three children.

Political party

Küster became politically active in autumn 1989 and joined the SPD in January 1990.

He had been a member of the German Bundestag since 1990 and was there from January 1991 to October 2007 Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group . Since February 2008 he was the representative for the IT industry of the SPD parliamentary group.

Uwe Kuester was in 1990 over the national list Saxony-Anhalt and since 1994 always as directly selected delegates of the constituency Magdeburg in the Bundestag drawn in. In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 40.8% of the first votes . He did not run again for the 2009 Bundestag election . For the parliamentary constituency Magdeburg was Burkhard Lischka selected.

Functions

Uwe Küster was chairman of the German-American Dialog Center Magdeburg .
