Víctor Saume

Victor Saume Carreño (born December 14, 1907 in Caracas , † September 30, 1964 ) was a Venezuelan radio and television presenter.

Saume initially worked as a car mechanic and dealer. He then tried his hand at singing in La Voz de Philco and speaking in Ondas Populares in the 1920s . Here he moderated the program La Hora del Aficionado , in which young artists such as Magdalena Sánchez , Rafael Lanzetta and Antonio Lauro were presented. In 1940 he received an official job as speaker and moderator from the Oficina Central de Radio at the Ministry of Labor and Communication. Along with Pepe Croquer , Oscar Eduardo Rickel , Alfredo Cortina and Ricardo Espina , he was one of the pioneers of the developing broadcasting industry.

He became known nationwide as Tío Saume when he took over the moderation of the television program El Show de las Doce in 1954 , which was broadcast daily from noon on Radio Caracas Televisión . Here, among other things occurred Lola Flores , Miguel Aceves Mejía , La Sonora Matancera , Pedro Infante and Lucho Gatica , and from a part of the consignment, La Cruzada del Buen Humor that went later Radio Rochela forth.

In 1957, Saume had to withdraw from the public for a long time for health reasons. In 1960 he took over again the line of the show, which ran now under the title El Show de Saume . In early 1964, health problems forced him to quit work again, and in September of that year he died in Caracas after an operation for an aneurysm.
