The VC Gotha is a volleyball -Verein whose men's team from 2010 to 2012 in the Bundesliga played. After VC Gotha GmbH, which was responsible for game operations in the Bundesliga, filed for bankruptcy on March 21, 2012, the VC Gotha club was transferred to the regional league. In 2014 he was promoted to the Third League East . Here the men became champions in 2018 and were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga South . Since then they have been calling themselves “Blue Volleys Gotha”.

Bundesliga

In 2006, he was promoted to the second Bundesliga South, in which the newcomer finished fourth. After sixth place in 2008 and fifth place in 2009, Gothaer became champions in 2010 and rose to the top division. In the 2010/11 season , the newcomer narrowly missed the playoffs in ninth place. Also in the 2011/12 season , the playoffs were missed with ninth place.

DVV Cup

In the 2009/10 season, Gotha lost 3-0 in the round of 16 of the DVV Cup against SCC Berlin . In the 2010/11 season they lost the round of 16 against Chemie Volley Mitteldeutschland in three sets.

In the 2011/12 season , the Thuringian first division team reached the DVV Cup quarter-finals for the first time after a 3-2 win in the round of 16 against EnBW TV Rottenburg . Here, however, was the end of the line against the reigning German champions VfB Friedrichshafen .
