Vorarlberg Online ( VOL.at for short ) is an Austrian news portal with a strong regional focus on the state of Vorarlberg . The online portal is part of the digital division of Russmedia , the largest media company in Vorarlberg.

history

In 1995 the news portal was founded by what was then Vorarlberg media company, today's Russmedia group. It was only at the end of May 2012 that the two previously separate editorial offices of Vorarlberger Nachrichten , the largest daily newspaper in Vorarlberg, and VOL.at merged as part of a cross-media integration. In September 2019, according to a survey by the Austrian web analysis, 1,728,902 "unique clients", i.e. the number of end devices, accessed the site every month. According to the same survey, VOL.AT reaches 68.9% of Vorarlberg's internet users per month. In combination with the other portals in Vorarlberg from Russmedia, 74.7% are achieved. ORF.AT comes second in the individual offers with 44% reach.

structure

At the Russmedia location in Schwarzach in the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley, over ten online editors as well as part-time and mobile field staff are employed. Of around 200 different articles that are published on VOL.at on a daily average, only around 20 percent are in-house productions, the rest is largely taken over by news agencies such as the Austria Press Agency . In addition to news from the region and international stories, VOL.at also publishes articles that are created and sent in by so-called “reader reporters”, i.e. volunteer laypeople. These articles are posted in separate sub-pages for each of the 96 municipalities in Vorarlberg .

In addition to Vorarlberg Online, the platform v ienna.at with regional news for the federal state of Vienna also belongs to the Russmedia Digital company. This portal is for the most part supplied with news from the main editorial staff of VOL.at and supplemented with news from the state.

Russmedia Digital also publishes portals such as Ländleimmo, Ländlejob, Ländleanzeiger, Ländleauto, and many more. The website VOL.AT is financed exclusively through advertising income. Around 90 people work for the company in Schwarzach and Vienna.
