The VV Humann Essen-Steele e. V. is a volleyball club from the Steele district , which is represented in the 2nd German Volleyball Bundesliga North .
history
At first it was only the successful school team of the Carl-Humann-Gymnasium, from which the Humann Essen volleyball club was founded in 1967.
After youth work was intensified, VV Humann won the first German youth championship in 1976. The male A youth won the title that year. In 1999 the club rose from the regional league to the second Bundesliga, in which the team had already played once before until 1998. After the 2002/03 season, the “Humänner” became first class. After relegation in 2003/04, the team succeeded in the immediate resurgence in the following season. Also this time VV Humann could not hold the class. As ninth in the table, the team had to go to relegation at the end of the 2005/06 season, where relegation was sealed.
Since the 2006/07 season, with the exception of the 2012/13 season, the club has played in the 2nd Bundesliga North and reached third and fourth place in the final table three times. In the 2010/11 game year , Steele's volleyball players finished seventh. In the 2011/12 season the club from North Rhine-Westphalia finished twelfth and was relegated to the newly created Third League West . In 2013 , he immediately rose again as runner-up. In the following season , VV Humann was twelfth and would normally have been relegated, with the withdrawal of TV Rumeln, they managed to remain in the second highest German division. The 2014/15 season ended in tenth place after six wins in the last six games, so VVH started the 2015/16 season for the third time in a row in the 2nd Bundesliga North and improved to seventh place in the final table .
Team 2015/16
From last year's team, Christoph Bielecki was no longer there for professional reasons and Lennart Tschuck for study reasons. They were replaced by Thomas Wojtczak and Tobias Schroer. In addition, some junior staff belonged to the expanded human roster, u. a. the Polish middle blocker Adrian Kwasniewski, for whom at the beginning of the season, however, was not yet eligible to play.
Jens Bräkling was still the main instructor in charge, even if assistant coach Falko Hildebrand, who also acted as a player, was listed as boss on the official team page of the volleyball Bundesliga. Both received support from Christoph Happe.
