The Liberal Bund or Bund der Freisinnigen ( Finnish : Vapaamielisten liitto (VL) , Swedish : De Frisinnades Förbund ) was a party in Finland that existed from 1951 to 1965 .

In the spring of 1951 the National Progressive Party disbanded , whereupon the People's Party of Finland and the Liberal League were founded. The majority of the former members of the Progress Party became members of the People's Party while a minority founded the Liberal League under the leadership of Sakari Tuomioja and the so-called "Helsinki Group". The influence of the Liberal Federation remained low, the best result in the 1962 parliamentary election with 0.52%. It was also the only election after which, with Erkki Paavola, a member of the party could enter the Finnish Reichstag. Tuomioja headed a transitional government between November 1953 and May 1954, he ran for the presidential election in 1956 and was supported by the conservative National Collection Party. In the election meeting, his candidacy was withdrawn before the second ballot, in the vain hope of being able to prevent a victory for the Landbund candidate Urho Kekkonen .

In 1965 the Liberal Bund and the People's Party of Finland merged to form the Liberal People's Party .

The party published the sheets Tiedoituskirje (1952–1953) and Vapaamielinen (1954–1965). She was also a member of the Liberal International .
