Vasilis Georgiadis
Vasilis Georgiadis ( Greek Βασίλης Γεωργιάδης , born August 12, 1921 at the Dardanelles , Asia Minor ; † April 30, 2000 in Athens ) was a Greek film and television director, actor and producer. He is considered one of the most important Greek film directors and a innovator of Greek film.
His films Kokkina Fanaria (1963) and Bleeding Land (1965) were nominated for an Oscar in the category of best foreign language film , while Koritsia ston ilio (1968) was also nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of best foreign language film . At Film Festival Thessaloniki his films have been repeatedly awards.
Georgiadis turned to television in the 1970s, directing many successful series.
