Honored Inventor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Deserved Inventor was a state honorary title of the GDR , which was awarded from 1950 in connection with a badge of honor and a cash bonus.

Award

The state honorary title “Merited Inventor” was donated on April 19, 1950. The reason for the awards was "... outstanding successes in the field of rationalization and invention, in the implementation of scientific and technical progress and thus the increase in labor productivity" . The authorization was checked by the Office for Inventions and Patents of the GDR . The prerequisite was that the invention was recognized as economically significant and approved by the inventor for use in the national economy.

In addition to the badge of honor and the certificate and a cash prize was awarded. The amount depended on the economic benefit and could be up to 200,000 marks .

The limited number of awards took place annually on October 13th by the Prime Minister or the chairman of the Council of Ministers . In the course of the decades fewer and fewer inventors were honored (1950: 100 honors, 1970: 50 honors).

Design of the bronze decoration

The badge is oval made of bronzed non-ferrous metal, e.g. T. enamelled . Height 44 mm, width 31.5 mm. On the front there is a hammer, compass, ears of corn and in the middle of the lower half the writing “DESERVED INVENTOR”. On the back there is a dove of peace in the middle and the words "PEACE AND PROSPERITY FROM OWN POWER" all around.

In the first version, a screw was used as fastening. The medal was later worn on a rectangular clasp (14 mm × 30 mm) covered with red ribbon . A black, red and gold stripe is woven into the ribbon on both sides.

The design of the front has been minimally changed several times. In the 7th version (1960‒1976), for example, the hammer tip points to the right for the first time. The red circle, which was initially enamelled, was later painted.
