biography

The two-time junior world champion (downhill and combined 1984) won her first World Cup point in her first World Cup downhill run ( Val-d'Isère , December 7, 1983) in 15th place. On December 15, 1988, she achieved her first podium finish in the downhill from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee with second place behind Maria Walliser .

Veronika Wallinger was one of the strongest downhill skiers for ten years. Although she achieved many podium places in the downhill and also a second place in the Super-G of Vail (December 3, 1994), she was never able to win a race, in which she won the last race only 0.02 seconds behind her teammate Sylvia Eder was lying. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , Wallinger finished third in the downhill. This was her greatest achievement.

She announced her resignation after a serious injury during the 1994/95 season.
