The representation of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia at the federal government is located at Hiroshimastraße 12–16 in the Berlin district of Tiergarten . It is an official seat of the representative of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia at the federal level .

The authority represents a state representation. It represents the interests of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia at the federal level . It thus performs the federal tasks of the state in accordance with the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany . Plenipotentiary of the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia to the Federal Government is since 1 September 2017, the Secretary of State for Federal, European and International Mark Speich. The authority's task is also to maintain the state's international contacts , some of which are under international law, at the Berlin embassy location, especially with the states of the European Union .
building
The building of the country's representative is on the southern edge of the Tiergarten in the embassy district called western part of the Tiergarten district between the Embassy of Japan and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates , the on the other side Representation of Bremen is located. The new building by the architect Karl-Heinz Petzinka was built from May 2000 to November 2002. The new building of the NRW state representation with its parabolic diamond facade made of wood is 50% lighter than houses of comparable size - it consists essentially of wood, steel and glass; Concrete was only used in the basement area and for the stairwells. In May 2000 the first groundbreaking took place for the agency, which offers a main usable area of 3905 m², a traffic area (with winter gardens) of 2600 m² and 495 m² of functional area. The estimated construction costs were 27.1 million euros.
The predecessor of today's state representation in Berlin was from 1954 to 2000 the state representation of North Rhine-Westphalia in Bonn , in the Gronau district , Dahlmannstrasse 2. This building is now used by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology .
West wind e. V.
The state representative supported the establishment of the Westwind - Wir Nordrhein-Westfalen in Berlin e. V. This association is aimed primarily at citizens of North Rhine-Westphalia who live in Berlin and Brandenburg. The authorized representative of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia belongs to the "Westwind" board by means of a corresponding clause in the statutes ex officio (as a born member ). This regulation is intended to ensure a harmonious and complementary cooperation between the association and the state representation.
