The administrative community Breitenbrunn / Erzgeb. in the former district of Aue-Schwarzenberg in Saxony was closed on September 2, 1994 between the municipalities of Antonsthal , the municipality of Breitenbrunn and the municipality of Rittersgrün as the Upper Ore Mountains administrative community . The fulfilling municipality and thus the administrative seat was the municipality of Breitenbrunn / Erzgeb. In 1995 the administrative community was renamed the administrative community Breitenbrunn. More than 6,000 people lived in the area of ​​the administrative community when it was founded. On January 1, 1997, the Erlabrunn community joined the administrative community . At that time, almost 7,000 people lived in the area.

With the incorporation of the municipality of Antonsthal into the municipality of Breitenbrunn on July 1, 1998, the administrative community only consisted of Breitenbrunn (with affiliated Antonsthal), Erlabrunn and Rittersgrün. On July 1, 2005, the Erlabrunn community became part of the Breitenbrunn community, so the administrative community only consisted of Breitenbrunn (with the affiliated Antonsthal and Erlabrunn) and Rittersgrün. With the incorporation of Rittersgrün to Breitenbrunn on January 1, 2007, the administrative community was dissolved.
