However , VfL TuRa did not reach the newly introduced Gauliga Hessen until the first year of the war, 1939/40 . After the Second World War, the club finally became part of the Kassel large club in 1947KSV Hessen Kassel . Today's Kasseler SV was founded in 1951 on the VfL TuRa facility in Schönfelder Park .

history

The club was originally founded in 1904 under the name United Movement Sports Club 1904 Herkules Cassel and was usually called BV Herkules for short . Immediately after the end of the First World War, they merged with SV West to form the lawn sports club Cassel 1904 , only to merge again on June 15, 1919: the RSV Cassel , the TG 1868 Wehlheiden and the TG 1899 Wehlheiden became the SV TuRa Cassel -Wehlheiden (the abbreviation "TuRa" stands for "Turn- und Rasensportverein"). The community with the gymnasts broke up a short time later. After the city was officially renamed "Kassel" in 1926, the name of the association was initially adapted accordingly and later changed to VfL TuRa Kassel .

TuRa was a typical district association whose members were primarily recruited from the educated middle class in Wehlheid on both sides of Wilhelmshöher Allee . The then BV Herkules celebrated its first sporting success in 1909 when it crowned its first league season with promotion to the top regional division. Immediately after the First World War, the Wehlheider were one of the founding members of the highest league in the Hesse / Hanover district of the West German Game Association and, apart from brief interruptions, were able to hold out in this league until the league reform in 1933. The national successes but had to leave the blue-whites to the stronger local competition. First the SV Kurhessen and soon the teams from CSC 03 , BC “Sport” and Spielverein 06 represented the city of Kassel in the finals for the “West German”, the team from Schönfelder Park achieved 3rd place as the best placement in the 1927/28 season .

VfL TuRa could not qualify for the Gauliga Hessen , introduced as the new top division in 1933 , and disappeared into the second division. Only twice, in the war seasons 1939/40 and 1943/44 , did the Wehlheider return to the Upper House of Football. In the last played round before the end of the Second World War you entered a war syndicate with TuSpo 86/09 Kassel .

After the end of the war, all sports clubs were dissolved and initially only one club was allowed per district. So in 1946 the SG Wehlheiden was created , which was called Kasseler SV soon after and in November 1947 merged with VfL Hessen Kassel to form KSV Hessen Kassel . In 1951 former "TuRaner" founded the SV Wehlheiden , which was renamed in 1954 in Kasseler SV and from 1957 to 1962 played in the 2nd amateur league Hessen. This club, which still exists today, is based on the VfL TuRa facility in Schönfelder Park, the Wilhelm-Buchenau-Kampfbahn .
