Vic Lindquist

Carl Victor "Vic" Lindquist (born March 22, 1908 in Wabigoon , Ontario , † November 30, 1983 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) was a Canadian ice hockey player , coach and referee . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1932 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Vic Lindquist began his career as a hockey player with the junior team Kenora Thistles, for which he was active from 1923 to 1928. From 1930 to 1933 he played for the Winnipeg Hockey Club, with which he won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, in 1931 . At the 1932 Winter Games, he represented Canada with the Winnipeg Hockey Club. In the 1934/35 season he played for the Winnipeg Monarchs, with whom he took part in the 1935 World Cup.

At the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he was in charge of the Swedish national team , with which he finished sixth. From 1940 the Canadian was active as a referee and was active in this function at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley and at the 1962 and 1963 World Championships .

In 1997, Lindquist was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame as a player . In 2004, he was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.

International

For Canada , Lindquist took part in the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , where he and his team won the gold medal. At the World Cup in 1935 , he also won the gold medal with his team.
