Vignir Svavarsson (born June 20, 1980 in Reykjavík ) is a former Icelandic handball player .

Career

Vignir Svavarsson began his career at the Icelandic club Haukar Hafnarfjörður . Then he moved to the Danish club Skjern Håndbold .

From July 1, 2008, the Icelandic national player played in the handball Bundesliga at TBV Lemgo . The 1.96 m tall and 106 kg heavy cyclist is a professional handball player. From the 2010/11 season Vignir Svavarsson played for TSV Hannover-Burgdorf . In summer 2012 he joined the newly promoted Bundesliga GWD Minden . From the 2014/15 season he was under contract with the Danish first division club HC Midtjylland . From summer 2016 he played for Team Tvis Holstebro . In summer 2019 he returned to Haukar Hafnarfjörður. He ended his career after the 2019/20 season.

In summer 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London .
