Virgil Bălan

Virgil Bălan (born October 11, 1937 in Turtucaia , Romania (now Tutrakan , Bulgaria ), † January 4, 2008 ) was a Romanian table tennis coach .

Career

After graduating from the University of Craiova with a degree in history and geography , Bălan was a table tennis coach at Dinamo Craiova (1960–1970) and at CS Universitatea Craiova (1970–2004). In addition, he was the coordinator for all national teams in the Romanian table tennis association. In Craiova he looked after players like Mugurel Firanescu , Teodor Gheorghe , Mihai Bobocica , later Eugen Florescu , Radu Neagoe , Mircea Nicorescu and most recently Vasile Florea , Simion Crișan , Călin Toma and Cristian Tiugan , all of whom were European champions in the youth field.

  • 114 titles in singles and doubles
