Office service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Office service , also known as office service or secretarial service , is the service provided by a company to take on office work for other companies , in particular typical activities of a secretary .

service

In addition to the services of a typing office , at least telephone service is offered. In addition to general office activities such as correspondence and other communication , the offer can include services through to bookkeeping .

Where the service is not provided in the premises of the customer, it is also known as Virtual Office referred to, so as virtual office of the customer. The term probably goes back to Chris Kern, who claims to have used it for the first time in a magazine in 1983.

A distinction can be made between two types of office service:

  • On the one hand, the provision of a business address ( domicile service ) in mostly exclusive city locations. All correspondence is processed at this business address and meeting rooms are also provided. Here, the contractor takes on more representative functions.
  • Specialized office service companies offer office space of various sizes with the appropriate infrastructure such as office furniture, telecommunications and Internet connections. The small office units can be rented for hours, months or years.
  • On the other hand, the outsourcing of office activities that were previously carried out by the client himself.

Other services can be e.g. B. be shared (with other tenants) meeting rooms or technical rooms.

Most virtual office providers are located in large cities, where office rents are often high, but the prestige of a business address counts, such as in New York , London , Hong Kong , Berlin , Frankfurt , Düsseldorf .

advantages

Using an office service is a great advantage, especially in bad economic times: Costs only arise for services actually provided. Fixed costs are thus minimized and the company remains flexible. This means that an entrepreneur can outsource certain tasks to an office service provider at peak times. Conscientious and reputable providers make certain demands on their customers (keyword: postal address). Thus, an attempt is made to weed out dubious "mailbox companies".
