The Virtuosi Saxoniae are a German chamber orchestra from Dresden .

repertoire

The Virtuosi Saxoniae, founded by Ludwig Güttler in 1985, made their first appearance at the Dresden Music Festival in 1986 . The focus of the repertoire is the music at the Dresden court in the 18th century with musicians such as Johann David Heinichen , Jan Dismas Zelenka , Johann Adolf Hasse and numerous other masters who worked at the Dresden court. In addition to well-known composers such as Antonio Vivaldi , Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann , the repertoire also includes , for example, Johann Joachim Quantz and Georg Benda .

The ensemble consists mainly of musicians from the Saxon State Orchestra . Occasionally the ensemble makes music, reinforced by other members of the Sächsische Staatskapelle also larger-sized works. The chamber orchestra also appears in a particularly small cast as a soloist ensemble.

The Virtuosi Saxoniae appeared again and again together with other ensembles such as the Dresden Kreuzchor , the Saxon Vocal Ensemble , the Thuringian Academic Singing Circle , the Halle Madrigalists and the Berlin Academy of Early Music . Individual members of the ensemble are also active in the Dresdner Trompeten Consort .
