Vitia ( Albanian  also  Viti , Serbian Витина Vitina ) is a city in the east of Kosovo with almost 5000 inhabitants. It is located about 50 kilometers southeast of Pristina and is the official seat of the municipality of the same name .

The 2011 census showed a population of 4924 for Vitia, of which 4839 (98.27%) were Albanians , 62 (1.26%) were Serbs , seven were Gorans , four were Roma or Ashkali , four were Bosniaks and one referred to as Turks . Four people reported a different ethnicity.

The corona pandemic reached Vitia on March 13, 2020 and are the first confirmed COVID-19 cases ever in Kosovo. A 22-year-old Italian woman and a 77-year-old man from the Kosovar city of Vitia tested positive for the coronavirus.
