Vogelsang ( Danish: Fuglsang ) is an area on the eastern side of the Engelsby district of Flensburg . The barely built-up area, which is largely used by agriculture, is known as an important local recreation area in the east of Flensburg. With the eastern development of the Engelsby district, Vogelsang also forms the district of the same name.

The Vogelsang is part of a green corridor that extends from the Flensburg harbor , over the Lautrupsbachtal , Adelby , the Vogelsang, Blocksberg and the Tremmeruper Wald to Glücksburg Castle .

history

Jakob Röschmann documented three grave mounds from the Neolithic near Vogelsang in the 1960s . The Vogelsang was first mentioned in the 15th century. The area was incorporated into the city as part of Twedt together with Trögelsby in 1910.

Vogelsang nowadays

The Hof Vogelsang be reached today on the dirt road Vogelsang, which leads from the built-up in the 1980s, part Engelsbys there. The wider Trögelsby Hof dirt road leads west to Trögelsby, where urban development begins, and to the east you get to the Flensburg transmitter (seldom also called Stift ). You can use the aforementioned dirt roads to get to the Weesries forest in the north , from where you can take the Weesrieser Weg near the Blocksberg area past Kauslund to the Fördewald . On the southern route through the area you can either get to the Meierhof and so to Tarup or to the rural Flensburg suburb of Maasbüll with the village of Rüllschau . In addition, a small stream called Taerbek flows through the area. At the beginning of the area near Twedt there is also a riding stables with the Flensburg riding club Engelsby / Twedt eV who like to use the area for rides.

Trögelsby is on the edge of the area . The area is also known as the Vogelsang-Trögelsby landscape protection area, although according to the definition of the Flensburg landscape protection area, it extends a little further south, towards Tarup , and ends almost exactly at the Kiel-Flensburg railway line . Since hardly any real landscape borders can be recognized in the area, the area of the bird song is sometimes defined larger and sometimes smaller in common parlance.
