Volker Sander

Volker Sander (born June 29, 1971 in Lippstadt ) is a German lawyer and a judge at the Federal Court of Justice since January 2018 .

Career

After completing his legal training and a temporary admission as a lawyer, Sander joined the higher judicial service of the Free State of Saxony in July 1998 . Following work at the Dresden Public Prosecutor and the Leipzig District Court , he was seconded to the Constitutional Court of the Free State of Saxony as a research assistant from January 2000 to August 2002 . In May 2001 he was appointed judge at the Leipzig Regional Court . From September 2002, Sander worked with full or part of his workforce at the Dresden Higher Regional Court , where he was promoted to judge at the Higher Regional Court on January 1, 2006 - until the end of 2005 by delegation . From July 2005 to February 2011, in addition to his work at the Higher Regional Court, he was again seconded to the Constitutional Court of the Free State of Saxony with a small workforce. From March 2011 to February 2014, he was seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant.

In March 2014, Sander returned to the Leipzig Regional Court as presiding judge. There he remained active on a secondment basis even after his promotion to presiding judge at the Dresden Higher Regional Court on September 1, 2017, and most recently headed a large criminal chamber. The Presidium of the Federal Court of Justice has assigned Sander to the Second Civil Senate , which is primarily responsible for legal disputes in the area of ​​company law and sub-areas of capital market law . Before he switched to the BGH in early 2018, the last major criminal case at the Leipzig Regional Court under Volker Sanders' chairmanship was the case against the Leipzig internet company Unister and its founder Thomas Wagner, who died under dubious circumstances shortly before the trial at the age of 38. In the course of the economic criminal proceedings against Unister before the Leipzig Regional Court, allegations by a professor had been raised that some things were not right in the proceedings.
