Volker Schröder

Volker Schröder (born December 27, 1942 in Hamburg ) is a German politician of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party and founder of Aktion March 18 . He is married and has two sons. He is the bearer of the Federal Cross of Merit.

Life

Schröder comes from an old family of brush makers in Hamburg. After two years of military service, he studied business administration. After working for an insurance company and in hospital administration, from 1981 to 1991 he headed the finance and membership administration of the Greens (formerly: Alternative List ) in Berlin . From 1991 until his retirement in 2005 he was head of accounting at the Berliner Mieterverein e. V. He has been running the business of his ancestors since 1980 as a part-time job - until today. He is the developer of the so-called anal brush .

Schröder became known as the founder of the March 18th campaign . The March 18 campaign referred to the March Revolution of 1848 . She advocated making March 18 an all-German public holiday in both German states. The patron was the writer Ingeborg Drewitz and the former Mayor of Berlin Heinrich Albertz . At the initiative of the campaign, the square in front of the Brandenburg Gate was renamed Platz des 18. März after the reunification in Berlin . For his commitment, Volker Schröder was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.
