Volturnum

Volturnum ( Italian Volturno ) was an ancient city in the Italian region of Campania at the mouth of the Volturnus River (now Volturno ) near today's Castel Volturno .

Since 194 BC Volturnum was a Roman civil colony and was destroyed in the civil war in 38 BC. Rebuilt.
