history

In the Middle Ages, Vornbach was the main town of the County of Formbach , whose castle was eventually replaced by the monastery. In 1341, Kaiser Ludwig granted the Bavarian Vornbach jurisdiction over the court . In 1646, during the Thirty Years' War, the village was burned down and the monastery devastated, after which the plague spread.

In 1747 the natural scientist Franz von Paula Wardrobe was born in Vornbach . In 1803 the monastery was abolished in the course of secularization in Bavaria . FX Bachmeier acquired the remaining 120 hectares of land, the so-called Schlossgut. In 1810 the municipality and the tax district of Vornbach were established. In 1857, Baron von Schätzler bought the castle property and expanded parts of the convent building. In 1859 Carl von Effner laid out the castle park with a rock grotto.

A school house was built in 1882. In 1939, Dr. Carl Ludwig Duisberg took over the castle estate and made it a location for theater productions. During the Second World War, the monastery served as a military hospital from 1944.

In 1949 Dr. Hans Hahn is the new owner of the castle. To this day, Vornbach Castle belongs to the Hahn family and serves as a venue for events and exhibitions. In 1965 the new elementary school was built. On January 1, 1972, Vornbach came to the municipality of Neuhaus am Inn as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . In 1977 Vornbach became the national winner in the competition Our village should be more beautiful . The Heinrich Schütz Ensemble Vornbach has existed since 1993 . In 2006/07 the village square was redesigned.
