Vorwärts 90 Berlin (officially: Berliner Fußball-Club Vorwärts 1890 eV ) was a sports club from the Berlin district of Tempelhof . The soccer team became German runner-up in 1921, before the club merged with Union 92 Berlin to form Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin six years later . On January 28, 1900 he was one of the founding clubs of the DFB .

history

The club was founded on November 2, 1890 and initially belonged to the German Football and Cricket Association (DFuCB), in which one could win four championships. After the decline of the DFuCB in 1902 moved forward Berlin in the Mark Brandenburg Football Association and was already in the first season after a 2: 1 playoff win over Viktoria Cottbus , the Brandenburg football championship secure. A year later the title was successfully defended. Nevertheless, the team did not take part in the first German championship . In 1904 (against Weißenseer FC ) and 1910 (against Tasmania Rixdorf ) they became runner-up in the Brandenburg region.

In 1921 Vorwärts achieved its greatest success. After two victories over the BFC Preussen , the team secured the Berlin championship and reached the final round of the German championship . There Vorwärts first defeated Stettiner SC 2-1 and met Duisburger SpV in the semifinals . The West Germans were also defeated 2-1 after extra time . In the final Vorwärts met 1. FC Nürnberg , who won the game 5-0.

A year later, forward failed to return to the Berlin final after a playoff defeat against SV Norden-Nordwest . In 1923 the team was more successful and moved into the Berlin final, where Union Oberschöneweide had to admit defeat. In the following years the team slipped back into mediocrity and merged with Union 92 Berlin in 1927 to form Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin.
