Hugo Robert Wäinö Wuolijoki (born December 14, 1872 in Hauho ; † December 12, 1947 ibid) was a Finnish ambassador and politician for the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP).

Life

Hugo Robert Wäinö Wuolijoki was the son of Serafina Lagervik and Juho Robert Wuolijoki. He married Sylvia Roschier in 1911. For the SDP, Wuolijoki sat in the Finnish state parliament from 1907 to 1910 and later, after Finland gained independence, in the Finnish parliament from 1919 to 1927. In 1921, 1922 and 1925 he was speaker of parliament. Before he became ambassador, he was minister in the infrastructure ministry in the Tanner cabinet for almost a year in 1926/27 . From 1927 to 1933 he was Finnish ambassador in Berlin , also accredited in Austria .

His brother Sulo Wuolijoki (1881–1957) was also a social democratic politician and married to the politician and writer Hella Wuolijoki .
