The WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG is a German company and manufactures components for electrical connection technology and electronic components for decentralized automation technology . The company is based in the East Westphalian city of Minden in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The WAGO Group is one of the leading international providers of connection and automation technology and interface electronics. The family-run company is the world market leader in the field of spring clamp technology. WAGO has grown steadily since it was founded in 1951 and today employs around 8,500 people worldwide, more than 3,900 of them in Germany at the headquarters in Minden in East Westphalia and in Sondershausen in Thuringia. In 2018 the turnover was 932 million euros.

The company is in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and IRIS certified .
Wago is particularly well-known for its junction box terminals , especially the 273 series, also known as "WAGO terminal " or its successor 2273. The cage clamp from Wago has also developed into a kind of industrial standard. The principle is now used by several other providers. The company is also known for the PLC series 750-xxx.
Members of the WAGO Group are nine international production and sales locations, 20 other sales companies and the software specialist M&M Software. There are also agencies in over 80 countries with which the company is present worldwide. WAGO has been manufacturing at its headquarters in Minden (North Rhine-Westphalia) since 1951, in Roissy-en-France (France) since 1971 , in Domdidier (Switzerland) since 1977 , in Milwaukee (USA) since 1979 and in Sondershausen in Thuringia and Tokyo ( Japan). Further production sites have been located in Delhi (India) since 1995 and in both Tianjin (People's Republic of China) and Wroclaw (Poland) since 1997.
The turnover of the WAGO group of companies was 932 million euros in 2018.
history
WAGO was founded on April 27, 1951 by Friedrich Hohorst and Heinrich Nagel as WAGO Klemmwerk GmbH. This was preceded by the purchase of the first patent for a spring clip .
Due to the lack of material quality, terminals could not initially be manufactured using this principle. However, the idea of screwless terminals, today correctly referred to as spring- loaded terminals according to the principle of action , was born and spring terminal technology is now a globally recognized industrial standard.
For a long time, the company was run by the WAGO Group's sole representative, Wolfgang Hohorst. Today the son Sven Hohorst runs the company.

WAGO Foundation
From the WAGO Foundation , special achievements of the trainees in the final exams at the two locations in Minden and Sondershausen, as well as the companies in the vicinity, are awarded sponsorship prizes.
Due to his exemplary support for the trainees, the current chairman of the foundation, Wolfgang Hohorst, received the Federal Cross of Merit on November 8, 2006 from the hands of the then Thuringian Prime Minister Dieter Althaus .
Cooperations
WAGO Kontakttechnik has been cooperating with the Besselgymnasium in Minden since 2000 . In 2015, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Städt. Petershagen grammar school closed. There is also a cooperation with the Freiherr-von-Vincke Realschule in Minden.
