The 1961/62 season was the tenth regular season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The champions became the Edmonton Flyers .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Winnipeg Warriors ceased gaming.
- The Victoria Cougars were relocated to Los Angeles , California and changed their name to Los Angeles Blades .
- The San Francisco Seals were added to the league as an expansion team.
mode
In the regular season the league was divided into two divisions (Northern and Southern). The top three teams in each division qualified for the playoffs, with the first-placed teams directly qualifying for the semifinals. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
