Forest cemetery

A forest cemetery is a cemetery that has a relatively dense and well-tended tree population over the entire area and thus contributes to air pollution control.

  • An exact definition of forest cemeteries is not contained in the funeral laws of the German federal states.
  • Forest cemeteries are not identical to those areas reserved for tree burials or the special areas designated as funeral forest .
  • In contrast, a park cemetery is characterized by a strong adaptation of the design.
