Walid Khalidi

Walid Khalidi (* 1925 in Jerusalem , Mandate Palestine ) is a Palestinian literary scholar and historian .

Khalidi received his Bachelor of Arts in London in 1945 and his Master of Literature from Oxford University . Since 1976 he has worked for Harvard University . He is also a co-founder of the Institute for Palestine Studies in Beirut. Khalidi proclaimed the thesis that the Palestine War consisted of two separate wars, thereby drawing attention to the civil war in the former mandate area. He has been dealing with the nakba since the 1950s .

In 1994, Khalidi was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
