Wallace Shawn (born November 12, 1943 in New York ) is an American actor , director in theater , film and television, and author .

Act

Wallace Shawn studied philosophy , history and politics at Harvard and Oxford . He was first known as the author of numerous plays, the most famous being Das Fieber . Shawn also wrote the script for the film adaptation of The Fever . He made his actor debut in 1979 in Manhattan under the direction of Woody Allen . As a result, he played in many comedic and character roles. On television, Shawn has guest roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , the Cosby Show, and Crossing Jordan, among others .

Wallace Shawn's father, William Shawn , was the editor of The New Yorker magazine from 1952 to 1987. His brother Allen Shawn is a well-known composer .

Shawn was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2001 and the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2006.
